What's in my Beach Bag

IMG_5680.jpg
IMG_5682.jpg

Ladies the summer months are upon us, and the beach seems to always be on our minds! Packing appropriately is crucial! Take it from this beach girl, here are the summer essentials that every girl needs in her beach bag.

1. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen- The number one, most important item to carry to the beach- sunscreen! I used to not care at all about getting sunburned. I would roll my eyes at my mom when she would remind me. However, now that I'm in my twenties, I know the importance of protecting yourself from the sun. This Neutrogena sunscreen has UVA/UVB protection and hydration with a water-light, refreshing feel.  I can not stand greasy sun screen! This non-greasy sunscreen has a light, clean feel and layers invisibly under makeup. It's water-resistant sunscreen lotion with SPF 50 that leaves skin looking healthy and moisturized for up to eight hours without any greasy residue or white marks.

2. Sunglasses-  I am loving my new shades from Maho. Check out more frames at Nordstrom. These are another one of my favorites.

3. Garden and Gun Magazine- The Southerner's handbook. Lance just got us a new subscription for a year. Yippe! It keeps me entertained and bound to my Southern roots.

4. A good book- Currently, I am finishing "You are a Badass" by Jen Sincero. It is becoming my new favorite book. It has given me a whole new world of confidence. I would highly recommend reading this, even if you don't need "self- help". It is such a life changer.

5. Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray - Having beach waves one the beach is a must and this small of this spray will make you feel like you're at the beach all day long.

6. My Nikon Camera- Because you never know when you will have a blogging moment.

7. Sandals- A must! (See below for shopping)

8. Do Not Disturb Beach Hat-  I love this one, and it's only 14$ from Amazon!

9. Morrell's Armoire Beach Bag- Buy it right here from my boutique. I am obsessed with its bright beachy colors.

10. Evian Facial Spray- I love this product. I give myself a little spritz to the face when I get to hot It really cools me down. It also gives your skin back moisture a with a nice dewy look.

11. Beachy Bracelets- To add a little pizazz to your beach look. These are from my shop.

12. Watermelon Circle Towel- Change up your regular beach towel game. I love my watermelon circled shaped towel. It even has fringe.

13. Baby Lips Lip Balm-I love to have these lip balms in my bag because they has SPF 20 sunscreen, and last up to 8 hours of moisture. My lips do not feel dry if I wear this on the beach all day. It helps with lip renewal also.

ASOS Gingham Dress | Michael Kors Clutch | MAC Nude Lipstick - Velvet Teddy | Sam Edelman York Studded Sandal

Contrary to popular belief, gingham does NOT say "farm girl" anymore! Gingham is now the "it" print of Spring 2018! If you're on Instagram (which I know you are) gingham is the uniform for most fashionistas year round! I love the gingham trend because you can dress it up and make it classy for the office, or dress it down for a casual weekend look. Try a gingham skirt and a graphic tee, or gingham pants with a ruffled top.

I took this look a little to the edgy street style side with my Sam Edelman York Studded Sandals.  My gingham dress is linked below and is from ASOS. I'm wearing a size 4.

I love how some say they associate seersucker and the seersucker suit with the Alabama Lawyer. My husband is a lawyer, sometimes works in Mobile, and I LOVE it when he wears his seersucker suit. Even when he pairs his seersucker pants it with a white button-down, I drool. If you're from the south, you must own some form of seersucker. I won't get into the the history of seersucker in the south, but it gets HOT down here!

When going to a June Wedding in 90 degree weather, it isn't easy to stay polished! This soft cotton material is exceptionally breathable and actually wrinkle-resistant.  Seersucker provides colorful, classic, and stylish options in Southern social scenes that keeps us cool. I think the blue pattern is the most classic. Overall, seersucker is the quintessential summer fabric for southerners. Its class, breathability, and feminine appearance make it the perfect ensemble for ladies of the South -so invest in some! I'm so in love with this J.crew dress that I think I'm going back to buy it in the solid red linen. It's on sale now! I wore this to church today. Just click the link below or above to buy. Stay cool my friends!

How to Create the Perfect Southern Proposal

57aa7a29fc9963309f2b8561fad69579.jpg

Every summer I always think back to the day that Lance asked me to marry him. It was probably one of the best days of my life. We've been married 2 years now, and I've thought to myself, if any guy is looking for proposal ideas, this would be a great concept for a perfect southern proposal.

The Back Story:

Although, we have known each other for almost 6 years. I met him when he was 21 and I was 19. My cousin introduced us one fall weekend when I was
home from college, and it's been a ride ever since. I remember being immediately attracted to him the first time I saw him-even with braces. Haha! It really was love at first site.

Lance played baseball and pitched for the South Alabama Jaguars. It was hard trying to maintain
a relationship when we both went to different colleges so far apart, but we never lost touch. He
got drafted to the Detroit Tigers his senior year. He had to move off, and I was sure we were doomed. We've had our ups and downs just like every couple. It was only in the spring of 2011 that Lance got a shoulder injury and had to move back home. That May was when we really decided to do things right, and we have been together ever since. I graduated from grad school in 2013 and Lance graduated from Law School in 2015. We both wanted to be out of school, and have a job before we tied the knot!

11231196_10205694162125621_8551674241710452557_n.jpg
cce3a662feb00683d9f70b48b7092433.jpg

The Proposal:

He and I would talk every now and then about proposals. I think he knew I had high expectations. But really, what girl doesn't want her proposal to be perfect and completely what she's dreamed about. Mine was just that!
You know the episode of Sex and the City where Carrie finds the ring Aiden has hidden and it is
just not "her". Probably one of the biggest decisions a guy has to make is finding the perfect ring
that fits her personality perfectly and cooking up the right proposal that describes your relationship with her perfectly. Mine was just that!

Over the 5 to 6 years that I've have known Lance, the number one place that we had spent the most time together was outdoors at his camp.

July 19 2014:

Lance really wanted to take me to Fairhope. Fairhope, Alabama is one of my favorite places in the
world. He took me shopping, we went and got coffee... all of the regular things I love to do in
this town. I of course, completely unknowing of the future events that he had planed, I demanded
that we swing by a couple of places and look at rings... again. He went right along with it. Later
that afternoon, we walked down to the Fairhope Pier and enjoyed the sunset. We ended the
evening eating at my favorite sushi place. I wanted to stay and watch a movie that I knew Lance
wanted to see as well. He made the comment to me that he really didn't feel like watching a
movie. I may or may not have made a big deal about leaving Fairhope. I for one never like to leave Fairhope. Finally, we were back off to Chatom, my home town.

Lance kept saying something about stopping by his camp before we went home. I didn't really
understand why we had to stop by his camp at this exact time, but I just went with it. I persisted
that we pick up my dog before we went. His excuse was that he had to check on a corn field his
dad had planted a while back. Doesn't that sound like fun? I have to admit, I was a little disinterested.

When we arrived at the gate, Lance realized that there was a note on the gate. At this time, I
wasn't paying much attention...that is until he came back to the truck and gave me the letter. The Letter was written to me from Lance.

It read..

"Hope you've had a great day. I'm sure you're wondering what's going on at this point. Truth is, I
wanted us to have a memorable day together to make up for lost time over the last few years.
Speaking of memorable, this property has produced a good bit of ours. How many memories do
you have out here? If you're having trouble remembering, search for more cards like this one as we ride into time."

So we rode. We went to SEVEN different spots around his property each location was decorated
with a white card. Every card took us back in time to a memory, including the location of our
first kiss! As the cards were winding down, and I knew we were about to arrive at the last
location, I started to get nervous. Surely he wasn't going to propose this night. I was expecting a winter proposal. We came back around the hollow that we had just passed a few moments
before. The first time we passed by, there was nothing but darkness. The second time we drove
by, a huge magnolia tree was light up like I have never seen before. Lights were everywhere. It felt like an enchanted forest.

~All I had was my iPhone to take pictures that night, and I'm telling you these picture do not do this setting justice. Lance and I recreated the scene for the engagement pictures.~

11062363_10205712666988231_4790292373158930324_n.jpg

My breathe was taken away. This tree literally looked like it came right out of Pinterest! As we
walked up to the tree, I remembered thinking this tree wasn't like this the first time we drove by,
and there's no way he did ALL THIS "just because" ... Something is bound to happen. We sat on a picnic blanket that he had so thoughtfully prepared. We talked a couple of minutes and finally I said jokingly, "Well if you wanted to propose to me, this would have been perfect" "Well you can check my pockets. I don't have a ring.," he said. I did, and there was nothing there. Ok, I have to admit, at that point I was a little let down. We talked some more. Lance surrendered some of his most intimate thoughts. We then realized this was the very tree we had carved our names in three years ago.
Lance asked me to come over to were our initials were tattered in the bark from years past. He proceeded to give me a very last card, which read...

"Morrell, Thank you so much for being you. Thank you for standing behind me and supporting me. Without you, there is no we. Don't you think it's time we become family? ...I do! So face me as I take a knee. Let me express my love before we carve the "B".

I was of course hysterically crying at the point. As I read his letter he grabbed a ring box out of
the tree and knelt to one knee. I of course said yes, he arose, and we kissed!
Later we drank champaign and carved the very last "B" in the tree.

It was absolutely beautiful!

Words can't describe how breathtaking this night was to me. I am so blessed to have a man that cares about me so much that he would go through all of the trouble in the world for this day. It was a prefect proposal!

I am so happy to share this moment with you!

ce45f61df756a4e568aca7aaed3c519d.jpg

Here's a couple of quick and easy steps to help guide you through the perfect southern proposal.

1. Keep the Element of Surprise-Never let let her know it's coming

2. Use a venue/setting that is meaningful to your girl- Lance used his land where we always spent time together and then noted each special spot.

3. Set the Scene- Going over and beyond to make the scene perfect will make that moment that much more special. Lance lit up an entire magnolia tree with mason jars, lights, candles, and then placed a blanket and a some champagne underneath.

4. Tie in an everlasting element- We carved a "B" into our tree that will be there forever.

5. Love Notes- Lance had a small note for each spot we stopped. I will have those as a keepsake forever.

6.  Family or no Family- What is important to your lady? Would she prefer her parents and family be there? If so, then please invite them to the background when the engagement is taking place. If you're shooting for something much more intimate, let it just be you two alone.

7. Drop to One Knee- this is the one that may seem cliché but trust me…it is necessary. Even non-traditional women will tell you this is a given. It's your easy chance to be charming and romantic.

8. Tell Her Why You Want to Marry Her- Lance told me while he was down on one knee, but I hardly remember any of it because of the excitement. Be ready to repeat yourself for years to  come. ; )

9. Have the appropriate drinks on hand for a true southern celebration- especially if you are inviting over guests afterwards for a surprise engagement party.

10. Last but not least, make sure you've asked her parents before you pop the question... like a true southern gentleman.

Maho Shades x Morrell's Armoire: Orange Beach City Guide

Orange Beach Alabama, my second home. Located on the Gulf of Mexico, Orange Beach, offers sugar white sands, beautiful beaches, great food, and entertainment. Today, I am partnering with Maho Shades to bring you the Orange Beach City Guide: local advice on where to stay, eat, drink, and what to do. Most importantly, I'll also include the ultimate packing guide for the OB! ...All in a pair of Mahos.

1. Stay

Currently my husband and I are living in small quaint neighborhood called Palm Harbor. Right Across from the Turquoise condominiums,  where each house is a different color with its own personality. However, if we didn't already stay here while we are building a house, there are numerous inspiring places to stay for a mini vacay over the weekend or a long stay-cation visit.

Castle in the Sand VRBO

This Beach house is just WOW. Located directly on the shores, Castle in the Sand is a brand new house that features a gulf side private heated pool, 5 private covered balconies on the south side of the home, and there are two additional private covered balconies on the north side of the home that offer incredible views of Ole River. We rented one side of this house for a photoshoot, but each side will accommodate 14-26 guests. You could rent both sides at one time for up to 52 guests! This could be one of the best values in the entire area. This interior is amazing and the views are even better. It's even a short walk to the Flora-Bama

The Turquoise Place

These condos are located right across from our neighborhood. I get to see their magnificence of tall, soaring tower glass everyday.  Once you step foot inside the Turquoise, you will automatically enter a world of luxury. Each unit is very spacious; which includes 3,4, and 5 bedroom ocean-front condominiums. What I love about this place the most is that each unit has a hot tub on the balcony. You can't beat that! Turquoise Place is a great escape from reality. Enjoy the very best of the Alabama Gulf Coast in a sea of Turquoise.

Hotel Indigo

This hotel is BRAND NEW and just downright chic! The building features a wave like roof and is connected to the delicious Southern Grind Coffee House (which will be mentioned later in this post). Most of the hiking and biking trails are accessible right from the front door of the Indigo. The Indigo also has a full-time shuttle bus that goes back and forth from the State Park Pier.  I love sitting at their swanky bar and having a cocktail.

The Caribe Resort

What makes this gorgeous resort stand out is the lazy river and pool!  Don't forget about the tennis courts, saunas and steam rooms, game room, private beach cart service, five star restaurant nearby-Cobalt, and much more. Not to mention, the Ole River sunset views are incredible from this location.

2. Eat

Big Fish

I LOVE Big Fish! This is one of my favorite eateries in Orange Beach. I come here for the amazing sushi rolls. The Lobster Roll and Red Dragon are the best.  However, if you're craving either steak or seafood, they won't disappoint. For dessert, try the Key Lime Martini. It tastes just like your eating a bite of key lime pie. Don't forget to make reservations.

The Gulf

Did Someone say tacos? The Gulf serves some of the BEST fish and shrimp tacos. The grouper sandwich is also a hit as well. The dill sauce drizzled on top of the grouper is worth asking for extra! I almost forgot the most important part-the ambiance! This is hands down the coolest outdoor setting I've ever experienced. With a stunning view of the boats going by in the turquoise water leading into the pass, outdoor couches, teepees, picnic tables, twinkling lights, and more, you won't want to leave!

Cosmo's

This is one of my favorite places to eat dinner. Dress casual. You can sit outside or inside, depending on your preference. The walls are filled wth colorful, beautiful art. Try my favorite, the Firecracker Shrimp. It's the most delectable appetizer- you won't want to share it with anyone.  Tip: This place stays packed out during the summer months! Make reservations in advance.

Cobalt

Dine by the beauty of the the intercostal canal and enjoy a gorgeous sunset while sipping a martini, and snacking on a tuna stack. Made with the freshest pink aha tuna, sandwiched between crisp wontons & avocado slices, the tuna stack is my favorite appetizer here. Perched by the Perdido Bay Bridge, the views are sensational here. This is the custom coastal cuisine at it's finest. Ask for a window seat or sit outside by the live band.

City Donut

Delicious donuts and coffee. What more could a breakfast ask for?

Buzzcatz Coffee and Sweets

I ate breakfast here a couple of days ago and it was delicious! It was the best breakfast sandwich I've EVER had! Next on my list is the cinnamon roll breakfast sandwich. The coffee was great too. Stop by for lunch and grab a chicken salad wrap or some ice ream.

3. Do

Don't let this rather small town fool you. There are tons of things to do.

(My favorite on the "Do" list.) You can't beat the sugar white sands and the turquoise blue water. Crashing waves and catching rays should be the first thing on your list.

Ride the Flowrider!

Yoga on the beach! Enough Said.

Located at the Wharf. Make your very own customizable fragrance for bath and body products. They have 200 fragrances to choose from!!

4. Drink

Flora-Bama

To the nights we won't remember and the friends we'll never forget! You've heard about this place in famous songs,  Kenny Chesney's Flora-Bama, JJ Grey and MoFro Florabama, Jimmy Buffett - Bama Breeze. The Flora-Bama is the home of THE bushwhacker. I can't say enough about this place. Only that I have had countless unforgettable memories here with my family and friends for years and years. Voted one of the world's best Beach Bars! Come in the A.M. and enjoy a burger, listen to local bands, and catch some rays on the deck.  ...And when the sun goes down, the night heats up.  Don't forget about the world famous Mullet Toss. It's the biggest and best beach party you'll ever attend. Why not throw a fish or two while your there? By the way, it was this past weekend!

_DSC8269-Edit.jpg
_DSC8271-Edit.jpg

Fishers

Because the food is unbelievably delectable, Fisher's should be in the dine portion too.  I LOVE their drinks and cocktails! This is a two story building. The top restaurant is fancy and the bottom restaurant is nice and casual. Try the Signature Margarita with the sea salty foam topping- delicious.  With Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka, grapefruit-thyme soda, lime juice, lemon bitters, the Downrigger is also another fave of mine.

Pirates Cove

Getting Bushwhacked at Pirates Cove is what every summer needs.  Ask for floater. You know you want one! P.S Most of my friends and I travel here by boat.

Southern Grind Coffee House

The best coffee on the beach! The Southern Grind Coffee House has two locations; one at Hotel Indigo, and one at The Wharf! They offer homemade pastries, amazing fresh breakfast, many choices of Gelato. The numerous flavors of gelato are AMAZING! They have wifi, and not to mention, they are pet friendly! For me to be able to bring my pup Oliver to coffee hour makes SGCH more than a Coffee House!  I work on blog posts here all the time. Plus, you never know what unique array of gifts and home décor you will find in stores.  The owners' hands on approach has earned them numerous awards and excellent reviews!

Anchor Bar

This vanilla bean bushwhacker rivals the Whacker from the Flora-Bama! Pull up by boat or car, both will do. Their seasonal drinks are wort a try as well, like the Mardi Gras bushwhacker. Laced with King Cake, it's to die for!

Red or White at the Wharf

Have some cheese and prosciutto with your wine, red or white. They have all the finest. The pizza is satisfying as well.

The Yard Milkshake Bar

This milkshake brings all the boys AND girls to the yard! You've never seen a milk shake like this before.

 5. See

The Alabama Point- The Pass

Bring the beach towels, beach chairs, sand toys and snacks. You may just stay all day and enjoy the waves, rays, and passing boats from the bay.  Don't forget your Mahos for the catching rays part.

Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach

This venue offers a cool rainy day venue with interactive arts and culture. Visit the gallery, the Hot Shop and the Clay Studio where you can see a demonstration or take a class. Pick out a piece of art work or make your own!

Gulf State Park Pier

Take a rod and reel for some fun pier fishing. This pier has 2,448 feet of fishing space available along the rails plus the views are gorgeous! Cost varies.

Good evening! This post is a little late tonight, but I had to take a long nap after this one. Just kidding! One thing I love more than shopping is... BRUNCH!  I had my wedding at 10 a.m. just so I could have a brunch reception with all the fixings. I love all things brunch including: waffles, pancakes, shrimp and grits, and bottomless mimosas!  Mimosas are great, but now I'm loving this new line of Sangria by LOLEA. Even better, they make a Sangria Rose! LOLEA just launched their Rose N5 this April. Rose all day is this summer's motto! I mixed my LOLEA Rose N5 with fresh oranges, apples, and grapes to add a fruity punch. This is such a fashionable Rose for a girls brunch. It's made with a blend of frizzante, with hibiscus flower and natural flavors. Don't forget to try the flavors N1-N3. The N1 is the most traditional Sangria- popular in Spain.   I also want to point out the gorgeous polka dotted bottle. It has a muselet - the wire cage that fits over the cork of a bottle to prevent the cork from emerging under the pressure of the carbonated contents. It keeps your drink fresh and sparkling if you do not finish the entire bottle. I'm saving my cute dotted LOLEA bottles for other occasions. You can find LOLEA in your nearest Fresh Market, Rouses, Whole Foods, or Piggly Wiggly. Bottoms up!

J.crew Pink Mules | J. Crew Midi Skirt | J. Crew Plaid Linen Top | Karen Walker Sunglasses | J.crew Necklace

I can't lie. I copied this outfit straight off the J.Crew Factory Outfit Obsessions page. Now I know why they call it outfit obsessions. I was completely obsessed the minute I saw it.  I love how they pair each ensemble on their website. If you're not the best at mixing prints, check the website. Some of the photos on the pairing page can give you great ideas and outfit inspo. I was also able to get everything 50% off. J.Crew Factory always has GREAT sales! By the way, you can get this outfit 50%-60% off today! I wore this over Easter weekend with my family, and I've worn it to work.  It would also be perfect for an outdoor spring party. Try a bright ruffled midi skirt, paired with button down shirt, like me. The frilly midi is really the perfect summer outfit, especially when paired with a straw tote and pom pom accessories. I mixed patterns in the blue family, and added a nice pop of color with my hot pink mules. Banana Republic Skirt | Banana Republic Top | J.Crew Heels | Tory Burch Flemming Bag | Karen Walker Sunglasses

There’s something markedly sophisticated about a monochromatic outfit. Maybe that’s why many fashionistas look amazing in all-black outfits.  Don't be hesitant to attempt these looks.  Depending on the colors, monochromatic looks can feel super elegant and high-end. Monochromatic outfits flow nicely. They can even save you a lot of time when picking out an outfit- just match colors. One key factor to wearing one color well is to match everything together with precision like my Banana Republic combo. You can do this with ease when you buy both pieces from the same brand.

For this collaboration, I choose to go with this golden beige pencil skirt and a classic fit utility shirt. I love everything about this asymmetric ruffle hem skirt(on sale now)! The bottom of the skirt is certainly busy, so I paired it with not so busy pumps. The way it moves when I walk is to die for. My button-down shirt fits bigger than I would like, but I tied it up and it looks great! I like tying blouses with skirts because it shows a better shape around your midsection, and it adds that little something extra that your outfit may need.
Thank you Banana Republic for this amazing look!

My fur baby, Oliver, loves his little travel bag! He loves to travel, ride in the car, go shopping, and even eat out... when I can sneak him in. My canine sidekick goes everywhere with me! However, his original carry bag is 10 years old-just as old as he! My old pet bag is on it's last leg.

I was thrilled when I came in contact with Pet Magasin. They are a small company that specializes in quality and affordability when it comes to products for your pets.  This pet carrier is soft-sided, and TSA airline-approved!  It comes with comfortable padding inside, plenty of ventilation, a carry-handle, and adjustable padded shoulder strap.  I take Oliver shopping with me a lot, and I love the adjustable shoulder strap. After long hours, the strap padding helps with shoulder cramps.
What's even more cool about this bag is that it folds flat! It's great for storing when you're not on the move. Furthermore, the sturdy construction keeps your pet safe, and the water proof material is super easy to clean... That's good to know, after I ruined the inside of my Tory Burch bag last time I let Oliver travel in style. Pet Magasin can be found on Amazon. Get two-day free shipping with Prime! It also comes in the color Orange.
The product dimensions are 18" x 11" x 10", a perfect size for most cats, puppies and other small pets. Oliver is only three pounds but has lots of room to move in this bag! We're a fan of the Pet Magasin!

Dinner Date Night- Bonefish Grill

A lot of people do not prefer Valentines Day, but I love it.  I have, and will always be a hopeless romantic. I had joked all day to Lance about buying me flowers, and I really did not think he actually would. However, when we walked in the door after work he had bouquet of a dozen roses! It was so sweet. This made my day, and as if the day was couldn’t get any better, it did.

IMG_4126.jpg

We were provided an extremely lovely dinner to the Bonefish Grill in Pensacola FL by Tilson PR. We normally go to the Bonefish Grill in Mobile AL, but since we are staying in Orange beach while we are building a house, the Pensacola destination was closer and just as nice. There was a long wait, but with our reservations, we walked right in. The location and restaurant here seemed awfully popular.  The ambiance was great. I love that the lights are rather dim. It really set the mood, but it was hard to get great pictures of our food.  I was going to take my Nikon to take pictures of the experience, but I didn’t want to disturb the other guests with my camera flashes. Please excuse the iPhone photos.

Lance and I started the night off with a nice cocktail. He had the NEW Woodford Reserve Bourbon. Which is made with a muddled orange wedge, Angostura bitters, house-made vanilla bean syrup, garnished with a Bordeaux cherry and orange peel. I had the Pineapple Martini. It was delicious. It was very light and refreshing. I could have drunk many more, but I didn’t want to get myself in trouble. ; )

IMG_4064.jpg

We then ordered appetizers. If you know me, you know I live for the appetizers.  My all-time favorite app at Bonefish is the infamous Bang Bang shrimp. Many other restaurants have tried to copy this recipe, but they can’t do it like Bonefish! Convincingly, I wanted to try something different, so we ordered the Maryland Crab Cakes with remoulade sauce. These cake cakes were made with jumbo lump crab meat. They were delectable. We also paired this with the corn and crab soup. Lance and I got a bowl and shared it. It was a heavenly and creamy combination of  potatoes, crab, and corn chowder.

In the meantime, we were served fresh baked bread with a little olive oil and what looked like fresh parsley, rosemary, oregano, basil and garlic for dipping.

IMG_4067.jpg

Now it was time for the main course. I ordered the new Thai-Inspired Georges Bank Sea Scallops. The scallops were wood-grilled over rice noodles in a coconut broth infused with fresh tomatoes, red onion and ginger, with crispy onions.  It was well-prepared, and with the hints of coconut and ginger, the seasoning was out of this world!

IMG_4069.jpg

My husband had the new 18oz Bone-In Ribeye Steak. It was huge. I could not have eaten but a quarter of it; however, it was so savory that Lance ate it all! To top it off, he ordered au gratin potatoes, staemed spinach, and a lobster tail for the sides. The lobster tail came with a fancy candle lit serving tray for the melted butter.

IMG_4073.jpg
IMG_4074.jpg

Last but not least, we were served a hot Chocolate Lava Cake to share- a rich chocolate cake with a molten center. I can’t describe the awesomeness of this dessert.  There is not a more romantic food than this chocolate cake. This cake is jaw-dropping amazing! Once I cut into the center, the middle started oozing warm chocolate lava.  It was cooked to perfection. This dessert is epic. It was even topped with fresh strawberries and house-made whipped cream.

IMG_4091.jpg

Overall the food was excellent, the service was amazing, and the atmosphere was romantic.  We were to ask for Henry upon arrival. He stopped by our table many times to check on us and make sure we were satisfied throughout our visit. Furthermore, our waiter was phenomenal. He took care of us like we were the only people he had to take care of, but in actuality, he had multiple tables. It was a busy night for Bonefish on V-day but we never noticed because of the exceptional service at our table.

I want to thank Tilson PR again for the amazing dinner. You made our Valentine’s an incredibly special night.

From my table to yours, thanks for stopping by.

Women’s Watches: The Most Unique Timepiece for Spring

IMG_3934.jpg

Oh, look at the time! It's almost spring,  and you know what that means....It's time for a wardrobe make-over! Just "watch" me make time stop with my new JORD wooden watch this spring! It's also, a perfect gift for your significant other on V-day.

My JORD Watch is the CASSIA series in Ebony & Sable. It's a simple but a classic women's piece that compliments literally every piece of jewelry I own. The full Roman numeral concave dial in the JORD collection is beautifully reflected in domed glass, which is incredibly shiny. It's such a head turner. I would like to call this a "three table watch", because I would notice this wrist candy from three tables over.  Interestingly enough, JORD also carries watches for men. I know Lance would love to wear one of their wooden watches as well since they are very tasteful, durable, and not gaudy.

The metal and wood link interlaced band integrates seamlessly. Yes, I did say wood. JORD is a brand of wooden watches. JORD wood watches are handcrafted from natural woods — Maple, Bamboo, Koa, Zebrawood, Olive, Rosewood, and Sandalwood among them. The watches are created from all untreated wood with the exception of the clasp, which is stainless steel.  It also comes in a gorgeous wood box with a cloth and a stick of finishing oil to keep your watch looking fresh! (Check out my insta-story for the unboxing).

The team is great by helping you figure out your wrist size so your watch will fit seamlessly on your wrist. JORD also offers free shipping world wide!

With JORD, now you can tell time from a modern, trendy and current point of view. Just enter our giveaway HERE for your very own wood watch! All entrants will have a chance to win a $100 gift code to use on the JORD site! One lucky person will win, but everyone will receive a consolation code worth 10% off once the contest is over. A discount code is always a win for me!

This past week I was invited to Elements Massage at the Shoppes of Foley at the Foley Shopping Center! Their grand opening was back in December, but it still felt pretty grand to me! The venue is brand new with gorgeous new decor in the waiting room.  The staff was extremely accommodating and incredibly kind.

This spa has a calming environment, comfortable tables, is clean, and has great oils. My masseuse was completely professional, and incredibly talented. Since my back has been aggravating me after we went snow skiing a couple of weeks ago, he added the perfect pressure where needed. He was friendly, and made my 60 minutes very relaxing.

I received the Himalayan Salt Stone Massage. It integrates the Swedish massage, thermal therapy and salt therapies to create a ton of possible benefits. The stones are warmed and used as an extension of your therapist’s hands to deliver a truly unforgettable massage. The stones were always the perfect temperature, and never too hot for me. After the massage, I felt great and very rested! The salt stone massage says to bring you "increased blood circulation, improved sleep, and improve overall sense of well-being". Even by the next day, I was still feeling great!

I totally recommend Elements Massage in Foley, AL. This would also be the perfect gift for you signifiant other for V-Day! A couples massage, or just treat your girl to some alone time and relaxation. Lucky for you, Elements Massage is partnering with 1-800-FLOWERS to offer you the best Valentines Day! Details HERE. Camel is incredibly classic and super easy to work with! Its neutral shade pairs with literally EVERYTHING in your fall wardrobe, from faded boyfriend jeans, to black pleather leggings, to dresses and heels.  I'm now calling this coat one of my fall closet staples. You can consistently style a camel coat in numerous unique ways. This is one of my favorite laid back ways to wear it. I'm wearing this ensemble to the airport today. It's comfy but classic.  Fashionistas everywhere are using their impeccable skills to add flair to almost any outfit with leopard print!  Wear a leopard jacket, and opt to be it the focal point of your outfit! This is THE accent piece, and personally one of my favorites.  A leopard jacket can really elevate a normal denim top.  Even try mixing it with other bold prints, like stripes, and colors as well. Leopard print pairs well with browns, tans, and always black! Leopard is the new neutral but it is also the best way to stand out!

H & M Sweater | J. Crew Plaid Skirt | Marc Fisher Over the Knee Boots | Tory Burch Bag Similar | Kate Spade Coat

Shopping for plaid skirts that work for your can be a bit tricky. You want to find something that doesn't make you look like a 13 year old school girl or Brittany Spears in her famous "Baby One More Time" music video. No fear! There is a mature way to wear and style this skirt in a classy and sophisticated manner, because let's face it, the plaid skirt is not a trend, it's a staple. Shop for a plaid skirt you love!

This  J. Crew plaid skirt is almost knee length, A-line, and in a thicker fabric.  I love it because it's the perfect length. The pencil plaid skirts look fantastic with knee boots, ankle boots, or even stiletto pumps. These Marc Fisher boots are actually really comfortable and warm!

Try this look with a sleek black sweater like me.  Mine is only 20$ from H&M! Moreover, feel free to try this look with a sweatshirt, a blazer or jacket over.  You can even try flat ankle boots for a more grungy/Rock and Roll take on the plaid skirt.

When styling the plaid skirt, it is the shoes, the jackets and accessories that make all the outfit's style difference. Figure out what look you're going for first, and then start from the bottom with the shoe.

I used to think that sequins were only for New Year's Eve. I was wrong! You can wear them to almost any occasion. The key is to dress them down just right. There are so many ways to incorporate them into your everyday outfits, not to mention the special occasions.  Teaming the with the appropriate tops and accessories is essential for pulling off a fashionable look. Today I am pairing my sequin skirt with a plaid blouse and a herringbone vest. The laid back plaid off sets the flashiness of the sequins, but also adds a festive touch on the outfit. You can even pair a sequin skirt with a graphic tee, or chambray blouse.

I LOVE Christmas and all the festive prints and plaids that go with it! Dress up your Christmas plaid or flannel with a tulle skirt!  Because of the ruggedness of the shirt, it pairs really well with the extra feminine tulle skirt. Remember opposites attract in fashion. Make it much more feminine by sashaying on your favorite pair of heels. I wore red heels to compliment the shirt. This look is super cute and chic and it’s super easy to pull off as well. It is the PERFECT look for a holiday party!  How many holiday parties are you attending this year?
